Fear is a spiritual force that came into man’s heart after the fall of Adam in the garden of Eden.
Genesis 3:9-10 NKJV: Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.
It is a derivative of spiritual death which is the substance produced when there is a separation from God’s life because of sin.
Just as the absence of light is darkness, the absence of life is death.
Fear comes from death so it is called ‘ the fear of death’.
Hebrews 2:14-15 NKJV: Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
This is not just the fear of dying physically which it includes, but more fundamentally it is the force of fear that comes out of or is derived from spiritual death: seperation from God.
When we get born again the life of God, living water, is injected into our spirits. This spiritual operation puts the divine nature into our spirits, driving out the sin-nature of death that was previously resident therein. This makes us new creations in Christ Jesus.
This new creature, this new spirit has no fear in it, because it has no death in it. Old things of death and fear are passed away and all things in it are new.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
So this new spirit is not a spirit of fear but of power, of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV: For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
Fear therefore is a foreign entity to the born-again spirit. It operates in the soul: the mind, will and emotions through evil tidings or evil reports (Ps.112. 7).
However, when you realize it has no right or power since the source of its power in you has been destroyed, you can easily rebuke it and flush it out by power of the Holy Spirit through prayer, the Word of God and practicing and developing the love of God.
1 John 2:5 NKJV: But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him.
1 John 4:12-14 NKJV: No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. 13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
1 John 4:16-18 NAS: God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. 17 By this, love is perfected with us, that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
So any time you are tempted to fear realize it does not come from your spirit: you do not have a spirit of fear. The fear is coming from outside, evil reports through your mind and emotions.
Rebuke the spirit of fear: say ‘Fear I rebuke you in Jesus name. I do not have a spirit of fear but of power, of love and sound mind.’
Practice daily walking in the fear of God and the love of God, and as the love of God develops in you it will flush whatever remnants of fear are operating in your mind and emotions causing you to live free from fear.
