THE CHRISTIAN ABRAHAMIC INHERITANCE 2
(week 29/10)
OLUBI JOHNSON

In our article last week, we saw that the church is the spiritual seed of Abraham and has an inheritance that is firstly spiritual and secondly physical including all the physical blessings the physical seed of Abraham: Israel have enjoyed down through the years from the Old Testament hitherto.

God has blessed and is still blessing Israel in spite of the fact that the majority of Israelites in modern Israel today either do not believe in God at all and even when they do, not serve God like their fathers did.

Why?

Israel is loved for their father’s sake in spite of their disobedience.

Romans 11:28 MKJV: Indeed as regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes. But as regards the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.

In fact God in His sovereignty blesses and protects natural Israel through the church: spiritual Israel by using some of our prayers in tongues given by the utterance of the Holy Spirit (Act. 2:4). This is why in under 50 years after the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues was restored to the church about 1900, Israel was re-gathered together again as a geopolitical nation in May 1948 after being scattered for over 1800 years after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD.

Now recall that our Christian Abrahamic inheritance is two-fold:

1. Possess the gate of our enemies.

2. Bless all the nations of the earth by breaking, ruling and discipling them by the power of the Holy Spirit without measure.

Spiritually, what are the ‘gates of our enemies’?

Our enemy is the devil and the His gates are the 5 physical senses through which he controls our souls: will, mind, emotions; bodies and circumstances making us do what we do not want to do:

Ephesians 2:2-3 NIV: in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. (3) All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

Galatians 5:17 NIV for the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.

Furthermore, the last enemy is physical death (1 Cor. 15:26), so, when we possess the gates of our enemies we, in consultation with God, will determine when, where and how we die fulfilling:

Psalms 118:17 MKJV: I shall not die, but live and declare the works of Jehovah.

Psalms 91:13-16 MKJV: You shall tread on the lion and adder; the young lion and the jackal You shall trample underfoot. (14) Because He has set His love on Me, therefore I will deliver Him; I will set Him on high, because He has known My name. (15) He shall call on Me, and I will answer Him; I will be with Him in trouble; I will deliver Him, and honor Him. (16) With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.

Now, we possess the gates of our enemies when by cleansing with the power of the blood of Jesus, we use the Word and power of the Holy Spirit to dominate our souls: will, mind and emotions; and bodies to only desire and do what is pleasing to God.

Hebrews 13:20-21 MKJV: Now may the God of peace (who brought again our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant) (21) make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

1 John 2:5 MKJV: But whoever keeps His Word, truly in this one the love of God is perfected. By this we know that we are in Him.

1 John 4:12-13 MKJV: No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and His love is perfected in us. (13) By this we know that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.

Practically, this possessing of the gates of our enemies is the experience of the perfection and fullness of Christ.

In our article next week, we will look more closely at breaking, ruling and discipling the nations.
