Watching and Praying Always
(week 40/06)
Olubi Johnson

In our article last week, we saw that by watching (or looking) and praying diligently we can hasten the coming of the Lord and so shorten these evil last days we are living in.

To watch is to constantly maintain the consciousness of God’s presence by ‘seeing’ by faith Him that is invisible, acknowledging Him with thanksgiving in your thoughts frequently throughout the day:

Hebrews 11:27 KJV: By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

Psalms 16:8 KJV: I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Proverbs 3:6 KJV: In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Isaiah 26:3 KJV: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Colossians 4:2 KJV: Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

To pray, is to talk with your thoughts, words and in tongues.

Isaiah 40:31 KJV: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles (‘flying’); they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Talking to God with your thoughts is like ‘walking’ in the Spirit.

Talking to God with your words is like ‘running’ in the spirit: you cover a greater distance than you do when you are just walking and it takes more power to run than to walk.

Talking to God in tongues is like ‘flying’ in the spirit: you cover greater distances than you do when walking or running and of course it takes much more of the power or life to God, than for ‘walking’ or ‘running’.

In our article next week, we will see why and how to watch and pray always and not just occasionally.
